Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. The tasks performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. As defined by the ADA “Emotional Support Animal (ESA)”, “companion” and “comfort” dogs are not “service animals”.
Stay
After a long day of walking on the beach, journeying through Muir Woods, cycling, jogging up challenging paths or simply retreating from the city and its cares, the inn invites its guests to take part in the fullness of its hospitality.
The Pelican at Muir Beach is indeed another world.
Hotel
The Pelican is steeped in the mystical aura of British hostelry. Seven snug bedrooms, a cozy and hearty restaurant, a covered garden patio and a diminutive bar in traditional English style.
Your cozy Room with private bathroom is graced with English antiques, a heavily draped half-tester (canopy) bed, and a turkey (oriental) rug.
In the tradition of English Country Inns, hearty food is served in the restaurant for lunch and dinner.
The paneled Bar is well-stocked with foaming brew, wines, superb sherries, ports, and is surrounded by brasses, low beams, dart boards and good fellowship. Pub snacks are available from Noon to closing – enjoy succulent bangers, cottage pie, fresh salads and more.
The Snug is a private room for overnight guests complete with fireplace, overstuffed chairs and a selection of books and games. Perfectly suited for relaxing, sipping Sherry or merely enjoying the glow of the fire.
Rooms & Rates
To repair the day’s toils, snuggle into one of our cozy “half-testers,” a heavily draped canopy bed. These have been incorporated into every Pelican room. Each room graced with English antiques is replete (in Tudor parlance) with the “necessary room”, the water closet, with its tiled shower and hand basin.
Included in the price of the room is an expanded continental breakfast and steaming hot coffee or tea.
Rooms are priced according to their size — all are small and cozy as befitting a 16th century inn.

Pet Policy
Pets are welcome on the lawn. However our interior spaces filled with antiques and imported textiles do not lend itself to a pet-friendly destination and pets are not allowed inside. The only exception is for service animals.

Adopt-a-Trail
The Pelican Inn has adopted a hiking trail.
We are humbled by our natural environment and our work to conserve it reflects our team’s values. We will stay committed to engaging with our surroundings with gratitude and care!
If you have visited our little slice of heaven tucked away in a corner of Muir Beach, you know we take nature seriously. From the hardwood floors that provide a foundation for the inn’s character, to the guests who call us a temporary home after their days outdoors full of biking, hiking, surfing, and swimming.
Out of respect for everything the surrounding trails continue to offer, it was an easy decision to extend our efforts and adopt the trail nearest our inn, the beautiful half mile section of the Coastal Trail that connects the Pelican to the beach.
We remain proud to adopt this trail, as this way we can help keep litter under control. It is an honor to do our part to keep the area pristine and avoid the ripple effects (including for animals, ocean and sea life) of littering in the natural world we love.
We’re proud to keep contributing as we take care of our environment. And we look forward to sharing the trails with you,
Your friends at the Pelican Inn
